May need a Tech2 hooked up (Vauxhall diagnostic unit) to tell the car that the lights are present :| Only a guess tho, have you asked Vaux themselves?

 

Is the wiring already there for the fog lights in the lower model astras?

 

As far as I am aware ALL the astra have all the wiring , just extra bit bluged in for some options

 

you will need a new light switch with extra f/fog button too,then tech 2 programing,like azza said wiring should be there for lamps

 

whats tech 2 programming? I wondering if my dad could do it, hes a professional mechanic, but not really any particular experience with the inners of vauxhalls. Im thinking if theres complex stuff, i might have to call the vaux guys

 

tech 2 programs all the ness ecu's,it has to tell the brains of the car it now has fogs etc etc,this was the same when i had c/c fitted,well i think thats rite or pretty near anyway lol

 

Basically, unless you buy yourself a tech2 machine and manage to get the correct software for it you will have to take it to a Vaux garage. They should only charge 20-30 mins labour for doing it tho!

THIS is a tech2 machine, tho not the type that Vaux uses (theirs have a large readout display so it doesn't always need to be plugged into a PC), someone may have one if you ask around on here!

 

That may b a Tech 2 but it wont help him as it doesnt do any cambus cars

 

i bought the switch but didnt realise bowt the tech 2 i took the switch back last night and got me money back ill re buy one on monday a ask teh garage, thanks tho people the cables were under the bumper but werent sure if they might be for headlamp washers

early this year a customer bought an Astra H Club and wanted front fogs fitting....simple job we thought!!!!!!!!!!
not on your life!!!
needed a separate wiring loom!( there,s a few to choise from too) then programmed by tech2
nightmare job.
but much wiser now next one should be easier!!!

How much would your garage charge to source all the parts, fit them, and then Tech2 the car?

Might be interested in getting front fogs fitted to my Life model, depending on how much it would cost.

i had a vectra c Ls before my astra it did not have the loom but i fitted the correct lights in and then had to fit a switch which was under the steering column which had a cable connected to the battery and a relay and the sidelights it worked fine cost 20 quid to be wired up il do this i think

 

oh dear, tell me folks, is this really worth the hassle to me?
