Eonon D5103 issues...

I have just recent installed the Eonon D5103 into my Vauxhall Astra and I'm having some issues with acouple of things... One is the refresh rate on it is crap - it seems to ghost the previous image on the screen when flicking thru the menus, and on the Sygic GPS is really slow to refresh too.
The second issue is the brighness and contrast of the unit - how do I adjust this?! This may also have an impact on the refresh problem. When viewing You Tube vids from others, it doesn't seem to have this problem on them... Any ideas please? :dontknow:
Thanks in advance!!

p.s. Why can't I get the female voice on the Sygic GPS to work?! Help!

I've seen a lot of people who have been having problems getting the voice to work on the newer units for some reason. I've looked at two and not been able to get it to work... Both units I've looked at for this issue have been the newer variant which is able to set startup logos and display information on the BID screen. I have an older variant of the D5108 which isn't able to do these things and I've never had an issue with the voices on sat nav. Although I do use the iGo Primo software, I tried it on one of the units with this problem and it didn't appear to work any better voice wise.

As for the refresh rate, I'm not sure. Can't say I've ever seen an issue other than it just being generally slow to respond to some screen taps. For the brightness, on the source selection screen, there should be a button that looks like a bulb. If you tap this, it'll change the brightness. There are only 3 settings. Bright, dim and off. Can't say I've noticed any difference in the quality of the picture between the different settings though.

Hi Nimraynn,
Thanks for the reply - gotta say that your installation guide was spot on, as I used that to install the unit in half hour! I've spotted a few people opting for the iGo Primo software - where can I get this from?! I've looked around and can't seem to find it for the Eonon systems. Can you PM me a link?
Many thanks!

Okay, this is getting to be a real problem now... when I've had the main beams on, the D5103 should light up - which is does, when it feels like it!!?? Friday, it didn't work, saturday it did - then decided not to, and this morning it's working again!! Also, on the Astra's dispay it sometimes puts the track number playing, sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes it just says WELCOME!!! in the display...
HELP!!!
Has anyone else had these kinda problems?? I've taken the unit out, and re-installed it again just incase it's me - but I can't see how it can be. I bought the unit from eBay and emailed the guy about the problems. I'm considering getting shot of this, as I don't want a car stereo that works when it feels like it!!

In regards to it talking to the screen, like mine and a few others, it doesn't do it every time

If it bothers you, with the engine running, switch the Eonon off and back on, as many times as it takes for it to speak with the Astra's screen ... Could be first time, could be second, could be third... Pot luck really

A question - has anybody dealt with a company called Audio Cart on eBay? These are the people I've bought the unit from, who were very chatty at first when I was buying the unit, but now I'm having issues with it have suddenly gone quiet. I've tried calling them, but the phone keeps being cut short....

To be fair however, Eonon have replied to me, so maybe I can get some answers from them and not from Audio Cart. Would be interested to hear if anyone else is having issues....

Hahaha! Yes, I have come up with another problem on the Eonon D5103 last night...

I thought I'd try the remote control with the unit, and guess what? Yup - it didn't work right. The buttons on the remote didn't match to the unit i.e. pressing the volume button swithed the unit off, pressing the menu button switched it onto the phone... sigh
I can live with out the remote - but the screen 'whiting' out is a real issue, and the refresh rate is cccccrrrrrrrrraaaaaaapppppppp (i.e. SLOW).

I would really love to hear from ANYONE with an Eonon unit if they have any ideas please!! :banghead: AND THAT INCLUDES EONON PLEASE!!!! (Had to shout that out :))

Quick question about this bloody D5103... when you switch off the engine and remove the key, the unit carries on playing for about 4-5 seconds, then powers down... Is this normal?? Do they do that on the other units? I would have thought it would power down right away after removal of the key. I get out of the car and the music is still playing!!?

Well, I've had enough of this unit now. The screen keeps flickering which is really annoying then you're driving. I've yanked the unit outta the car and I'll box it up and send it back.
I'm gonna chance another new D5103E replacement, so maybe that won't be so buggy. I really think the screen has a major part of the problems - but I guess we'll see.
The unit only took me 10 mins to take out - easy when you know how :p (no crowbar jokes please)

The flicker issue isnt normal at all mine and the other two units i have seen installed and working do not do this. I would say send it back and replace the older units are fantastic im not a huge fan on the new ones if im honest.

Okay, the new unit is in (took less than 20 minutes, once you know what you're doing!) and is amazingly better than the previous unit! I can actually see the display now, rather than it ghosting the previous images. Plus, the screen resolution is alot clearer - which mean it all points to a dodgy screen on the last unit.

I've also updated the sat nav software to Igo Primo - MUCH better than that Sygic sh#t they supply with the unit - so much clearer and easier to navigate with!

Just a minor niggle though... the led colour is stuck on blue, and my Astra's display is orange/red! Not that I mind it being blue, as it does look pretty funky (infact I think the whole lot should be blue... a project for another time methinks) but when I tried to change the colour on the screen setup it wouldn't let me do it. Has anyone else has this problem?

Aside from that, so far so good - I'm more of a happy bunny now than I was before (let's hope it stays that way...)

Glad to hear you have your problems sorted bud (Y)

iGo is much better than Sygic, had no problem with Sygic myself, but iGo is superior :)

Shouldn't need to go into set up, press the SRC button and next to the brightness button is the colour change button
Exactly this, the option in the set up menu doesn't actually work ... Its the button on the 'home' screen with 4 squares on it (Y)

So far so good - the unit is behaving as it should do now (apart from it playing the track for 5 seconds after you switch off the engine and remove the key :dontknow: but I can live with that) and I've changed the display colour too! :D
The Astra display seems to link to the Eonon better than before - sometimes it misses, but I would say 8/10 times it displays 'Audio', 'GPS On', 'Track' number and the 'Welcome!!!' screen okay.
As far as I can tell, the Igo sat nav software is behaving ok - though I haven't really been anywhere yet to really try it out. The picture-in-picture idea is a nice touch though (Y)
I'm still very wary that the unit could go wrong however, after my :banghead: from the last unit... Time and driving around will tell I guess!
