Blue smoke from 1.9 CDTI

I collected my wife's Astra from the garage this afternoon. It had been there all week to have the blue smoke from cold starting looked at.
The garage replaced the glow plugs, then all 4 injectors. The EGR has already been replaced last month at another garage.
On the way home we noticed a lack of power and a loud rattling noise from around 2,000 rpm upwards.
Does anyone know if the new injectors need coded or will the ecu "learn" as it,s driven?
When i got home i looked to see if anything was loose under the engine cover but nothing was apparent-however i did notice the bottom section of the air-con conderser has fallen off.....
Really getting annoyed now as wouldnt expect these faults after 30k on a 58 plate and guess what? It still smokes for 5 or 10 secs after starting.
Already have case number from VX and will give them a call on Monday.
Can anyone offer any advice apart from alcohol and running away!!!!

if the condenser is not leaking dont worry about it as it a common problem

blue smoke to me tend's to be burning oil

Mine has smoked on start-up since I have had it - but only on initial start-up from cold, and when the outside temperature is below a certain level.

I have heard on this forum about some dealers changing the valve stem oil seals in an attempt to cure the problem. Never got any feedback as to whether it worked or not.

The injectors each have a unique code laser etched onto the top of them. This code must be programmed into the ECU when they are fitted to the vehicle.

I have to disagree with you on both points.

I have a Signum with the same 1.9CDTi 16V engine, and that has never smoked on start-up. Neither do those of the people I work with that have 1.9's.

The injectors are coded to the ECU. As mentioned above, each injector has a unique code etched on it from the factory which tells the ECU it's flow characteristics - this varies between injectors due to manufacturing tolerances.

If you don't put the code in when changing the injector, at best the engine will run a bit rough and smoke. At worst, you could melt a piston.

mine smokes (blue) from cold start lasts about 10 seconds then is clear until its cold again. however it doesnt use any oil what so ever. im presuming its normal?!?

id also been told it can depend on the type of diesel your using as mine didnt do it on normal diesel and now does on vpower diesel? maybe just coincidence as i havent changed back to normal diesel

Hi,I have an update to my blue smoke and rough running, after collecting the car after it had the injectors replaced I knew it didn't feel right with a lack of power and an engine knock over 2000 rpm.
Despite the repairing garage telling me there was no problem and it seemed normal I persevered and took it into another VX garage to be checked.
left it there for 3 days for cold start tests, they called to say it looks like the wrong injectors have been fitted due to an issue with the VX parts system!
I now have the car back after a total of 3 weeks in the workshop and still have blue smoke on starting.....the knocking noise has gone but I am concerned if damage could have been done and have requested an inspection by A VX technical manager.
I will update this post after his inspection on the 27th but to say I am unhappy is an understatement and I would appreciate your comments on this situation
cheers-Ben 10.

I would say that after VX has had their Technical Manager inspect for any possible damage a report hopefully will be presented to you for reference, being all ok and given the green light to drive it as you would, make sure that the work carried out will be covered under waranty for at least a year in case something were to rear it's ugly head.

Keep us all updated.
