Remote Locking and Unlocking

Apologies if this has been answered before (can't specifically find a thread relating to the particular car). I have a 62 plate Astra GTC 1.6T - love the car, HOWEVER the remote locking drives me insane. I can press the fob twenty-odd times on occasions before it will lock or unlock. Other times it works on the first attempt. My next door neighbour has an 13 plate SE 1.6 which does the same. He took his car back to the dealer who could find nothing wrong. Anyone else had the same problems? An advice greatly appreciated!

The remote on my Astra G often had problems at my local Asda. I put it down to either the police station or the mobile phone mast that were both nearby. Funnily enough my J doesn't have problems there, so it must be different things affect different cars depending on the frequency used by the remote or something.

Most keys operate around the same frequency around 433.9Mhz but it's not just keys, wireless doorbells and other short distance radio equipment (low power), plus UK Amateur (high power) use means it could be anything - even a neighbours car key :) Also, depending on the signal rejection capabilities of the vauxhall system it's possible nearby frequencies may interfere.

Thanks for the info guys - I thought about the router myself. Took the car down to the garage for advice - they could find nothing wrong and it worked perfectly. They gave me a tip (he admitted it was stupid but has been known to work) - point the key at your head when opening!!!. This boosts the signal. Really???
