No warm air from heaters :(

Morning,

My heaters stopped blowing warm / hot air yesterday. It's not even luke warm. It's COLD. VERY COLD.

I've checked fuse #27 in case it was that - it wasn't.
I've checked the engine temp in the diagnostics menu - it's at around 80 degrees, this means the thermostats ok, right?

The fans are working fine so does that rule out resistor pack?
Coolant level is all good.

I don't know what else to check, anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

I read that it could be an air lock in the coolant hoses, just ran the car up to 73 degrees with the coolant cap off, nothing seems to have changed. Is there another way to remove an air lock or have I done something wrong?

Put your hand on the hose after the thermostat, you should know if its opening if this gets hot.

The last time I had a problem like this is because the water pump failed so it wasn't pushing the hot water through the heater matrix. This also caused the engine temp to sky rocket.

Is the thermostat near the coolant bottle?

I think the water pump must be ok as after I got to work my engine temp was at 85 degrees and it was a good 45 minute drive including some motorway.

Had a squeeze of the two pipes coming out the back of the engine, they weren't warm even though coolant temp was at 68degs.

After squeezing them the air coming from the blowers was noticeably warmer so I'm thinking I've got a blockage. Will do a coolant flush and hopefully that should sort it. Thanks for the help (Y)

Are the blowers working?

Yeah, blowers are fine. Thermostat is fine, water pump is working, heater matrix is fine, there aren't any leaks and coolant level is fine.

It's currently working and it's not that cold anyway so I'll get over it

Yep, everything mechanical is fine. I did every check I could before I took it to the garage after looking at threads on here and I couldn't find anything. He said a software update might fix it (doubt it but the software does control the heating on this I think, it's got the CID) or that it could be the heater control panel. He said he won't know for sure until he's tech 2'd it.
