Cheap and subtle ways to tweak the 1.7 CDTI engine...

Hey mate, I'm not going to pretend like I know everything or even anything at this point in time since I'm still in the research stage of my build :D. But from what I can tell about the DTUK tuning chip what happens is that you connect it in between the ECU and the engine (looks really easy to do) and you are able to disconnect it whenever you need or want to. For the 1.7CDTI I think the only system available is the Red chip. I haven't got mine yet but I'll be getting the same car so I'll be monitoring this thread and offering my input as much as I can :). Regarding the K&N panel filter it seems that it is pointless without derestricting the airbox.
I'll post links to information on that in a sec :).

That's a very good point I would have thought that people would have played more with the turbos. Have to wait for someone with actual knowledge to give a reason for it I'm afraid!

Wow that sounds awesome, what I would like to know though is whether the DTUK box would stil be yield some form of improvement over those remapped results. I'm going to give then an email regarding that. Because if you can't then it seems kind of pointless dropping ÂŁ360 on the tuning service if the DTUK box does it better and with guarenteed results! But if we can do both :D

The current 1.7CDTI seems to be categorised under the name Bosch which is indeed the 100ps edition and as far as I can tell the latest version of the 1.7 diesel range. For the 100ps version you get around 125ps and an increase of around 60nm of torque.
