its dependant on where you go on price.. and they would sort the bearings/oil out, as well as removing the box and popping it back in!
Ohhh alright mate. Think i mis understood. Will the car be okay to drive still providing i dont boot it and skip 3rd gear out? Wnt have the money until the end of the month.

er ye it is actually.. there is a thread on VXRo if you haven't got a haynes manual floating around. only difficult bit is taking the batter out to get access to the top of the gearbox to put the oil back in!

Im running comma 75-90 box oil cause at the time, that was what was recommended for cars with a LSD.. 75-80 for standard diff cars and for 5 litres it cost me ÂŁ40 or so iirc?

No i dont have a haynes. Just had a look on vxro, think i could manage doing that every year. And ÂŁ40 aint bad at all in the the long run. Thanks for your help guys!

The F23 in my old GSi the syncro went on 3rd gear, it crunched going into 3rd from just normal driving. I had it fixed but then it jumped out of 3rd when I released the clutch and it had to be redone so I'd say its a syncro issue

Possibly a new third gear and third and fourth syncro os what i got told. However, there maybe more damage so he's gunna investigate whennits there. Booked in for this friday now. Got a price of ÂŁ85 for the syncro's, ÂŁ85 for third gear and ÂŁ135 to split the box which isnt as bad as i expected. Just depends if there is more damage as i have to drive it another 100miles yet.
