there is somethin on here already DAZ made a how to guide which was absolutely spot on i just followed that although i'll get some picks off the one way valve before the re-circ valve

this is the position on my dump valve, still to order a samco pipe with take off as it looks rubbish just cutting the original pipe

the little white nylon piece you can see is the one way valve fitted just in front of the re-circ valve, £2.50 from halfords, so far after a month of using this i've had no problems at all

this is the T piece just before the fuel pressure reg valve sorry it's not a great photo but it was bucketing down !!

Why would you want a dump valve? Don't they just dump the gases from the turbo hence forcing the turbo to respool when you accelerate again?

 

a dump valve releases the pressure in the pipe when u back off. The pressure in the pipe normally builds up and backs up causing the turbo to slow down due to pressure. when you re-apply your lead foot the turbo has to wind up again, this is called "lag". dump valves stop or try to stop this lag. in road use its just about the pppppssssttt but for race its about the milliseconds gained by not having to wait for the turbo to kick back in. i'm sure anyone whos fitted a dump valve to a road car hasnt noticed the extra .0034 of a second they have shaved off their travel to work time

 

i think its just one of these things i wanted to try

first time i've had a car with a turbo so just fancied one to try it for a while it'll last another month or so then i'll get bored and get rid and use the money to get somethin for a bit more power

purely just to get rid of my curiosity

 

got my dump valve fitted today. i didnt need a one way valve as mine can be heard !

 

swaffield what type did of valve did you fit, i've heard the baileys trumpet type is a fair bit louder that the standard baileys DV26 ??

 

Oh okay was just wondering as I was sure they decrease performance :s lol

 

mines a baileys dv36d and they help with the lag and if you fit the right one a twin piston type then you wont have any problems if i remember mr courtney has one on there vxr and sell them tooo .

and they prolong the life of the turbo aswell !!

Apologies - DO NOT FIT A ONE WAY VALVE TO YOUR VXR

I had previously said my car was the exact same after fiitng one of these oh how i wish i hadn't bothered.

Yesterday my car started going bonkers, was running like a bag of ****, juddering like mad and my traction control light was flashing as most owners would do i started to panick a bit thinkin i had some serious problems, so far this is the only " engine " mod I have done so I removed the one way valve and took it out for a drive and was completely back to normal.

IF ANYBODY IS THINKIN ABOUT TRYIN THIS PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE AND DONT BOTHER AND COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY AND ALSO I HOPE I'VE NOT DONE ANY DAMAGE TO MY CAR !!

 

Did you fit the oneway valve only I take it you had an aftermarket dumpvalve fitted too as all the one way valve does is dissable the standard dump valve.


I have had one fitted to my car for about 18 months now with no problems. I think I was probably the first one to fit the one way valve on here and Astra sport after reasing it on an Australian website.

i had fitted an aftermarket baileys valve and was tryin to send everything through it thats why i fitted the one way valve, it semmed pretty good at first but then chucked it a few days ago thats why i just pulled it off so i wasn't taking any chances

 

mmmmmmmmmmmmm Strage results.

There are a good 30-40 turbo owners on another site that dont have any problems. Maybe your one was the wrong way round or faulty.

 

think something has happened to the one way valve, broken up inside or somethin really no idea, it was the right way round tho as when fitting it i swapped it's direction to make sure it was blocking the OE valve and putting all pressure to the baileys valve

 

take it that the one way valve goes away from the standard re -circ valve or what

 

bypas recirc valve

i dont know if it is of any help to anyone but if you give bailey motorsport a call (01763 2466660) they can supply you with a solid plug that replaces the spring inside the factory valve for about £6.00.
it complete bypass the factory valve with no probs what so ever.

you remove the 3 allan bolts on top of the factory recirc valve,remove the top,remove the spring and replace it with the bailey item then put it back together and job done.

 

I herd you cant put a spring in the Vxrs wastegate I herd it messes up

I took mine off just for powerlose really cacr was running fine

 

you dont put a spring in there mate you remove the spring and replace it with a solid item.

guys at bailey motorsports have had no complaints so far and they have been sellin it 2 years.

 

By fitting the one way valve its the same as fitting the spacer.

One way valve takes 30 seconds to fit. Spacer takes ages and not much room.

 

i dont know about others mate but the fact that it takes longer to fit and you rip half your knuckles off doing it says to me that it does a better job even tho if i think about it i know its exactley the same.:lol:

crazy i know but the point im trying to make is that if someone was going to have a problem with bypassing the recirc valve either with the one way valve or bailey item then im sure bailey would of heard about it.

 

when I bought it of Courtly I didnt have a spring to replace it with or instructions

And I was running Huge Power lose

 

its not a spring mate its a hollow metal tube you use to replace the original spring.ill try get pics up tommorrow of the item and if you want mate ill scan the instructions as pdf file and email them if that helps.

 

has any 1 got the size diamentions of the metal tube that goes inplace of the spring!! need 2 make 1!!! or does any one have 1 to sell!! got every thing else apart from this item!! many thanks

hi mate,its 20mm in length,19mm in diameter and the wall is around 1mm thick.hope this helps.
