As some of you know, my car has been going through the wars as of late...

June saw the body work dented due to a biblical hailstorm!

Early August I fid out my DMF is fubar, so bought a new one along with a new clutch.

Mid August the alternator packs in, 2nd time in 3 years.

Mid august saw 2 new rear tyres and car tax.

Fast forward to this past weekend, car's booked in at a local garage to have the DMF and clutch fitted. Car went in Saturday morning and was advised it's a 7 hour job so will most likely be Sunday before I get it back. Sunday morning come and a phone call at 9.30am, "your car's all sorted and ready to pick up".

Can't wait to get it back, was planning on remapping her that afternoon for some playtime, but when I drove her she felt freakin' horrible.

The bite point was literally within a mm of clutch pedal travel! Figured it may get better as the day goes on, but nope! Even really struggled to get into gear at times, so now my car is once again off the road and I'm driving my brothers car.

Was just thinking last night after I'd limped her home, the amount of money I've thrown at her this past 6 weeks or so, I could've bought a cheap run around and not had all this ball ache!

Part of me thinks I should've just let the insurance scrap it after the hail storm. :(

Got to love hind sight!!!

Think like that and you will hate it. Not worth selling now any way, you'll sell it and get about 4-5k when you've spent near half that or more this year. Stick it out. Just wait untill all problems are sorted, the suns out and you find a noce wyndy road to have some fun :D love will return after a good blast (Y) chin up son

I think that we all have these days, something lets you down, annoys you, winds you up and you just feel like taking a match to it. But, the thing to remember is that when you get it back, you will have a car that has had everything done. If you sell it, someone else gets the benefit of all your hard earned and you go and buy another car that then starts having problems. Stick with it, its a case of better the devil you know (Y)

I'm too stubborn to even consider selling mine, though I'm fairly sure I'll need a new DMF soon.

Stay positive Pete, once it's back on the road and you go out for a nice long drive you'll fall in love again :D

Mine's on such high mileage now that my lunch is probably worth more... so I just plan on running mine into the ground. As much as it gets annoying when spending a lot of money (needs a service, inlet, cambelt, probably replacement coolant as it stands at the moment), I just don't think it's worth getting rid

I feel your pain. 6 months ago I needed so much going but each month I have done bits slowly and now she's back to her normal self. Must have spent £1500 this year alone already.

Within next few months for mine. 2 new tyres this month, service/ cambelt next month, MOT month after then hopefully trading it in (pretty sure dmf is going and gearbox bearings are definately going).

To be fair, uintil now the car hasn't needed anything doing to it. But its the one car I regret buying. Will never buy a diesel again.

Yeah I know what you're all saying, but it's been a kick in the balls and wallet time and time again!

Had my brother round last night to look at it, he brought a guy that is a clutch specialist to see if he could shed any light on it.

Basically there is no pressure on the pedal, you litterally have to put your foot through the foot well to get the sod to engage!

The mechanic said the pedal needs pumping to get the air out, then last night the specialist said this is a bad idea on these clutches?

So as it stands the car is still a freakin' expensive garden ornament. Just waiting on a call to say when the garage can have it back in.

I'm reluctant to sell as it's had over 4 years of my life, money and passion thrown at it, and bar the fact that mechanically and asthetically it's fubar, I still love the car!

Even after all this, I still need an oil leak sorting and new front brakes!

Fed up just ain't really cutting it!

If I were you I would have given up when you were looking at Yellow rattle cans on the shelf in Halfords :D
 Can always count on you mate!
