Hi all, apologies if this is in the wrong section, hopefully someone can help me out...

I'm looking for an amp for a set of massive hi-fi speakers. I have a pair of Sony SS-G3's and a pair of Sony SS-G7's. They're pretty old-school and if you know anything about speakers or Google them, then you'll see that the SS-G7's are GIANT! I think they used to be studio monitors.

Anyway, at the moment I'm running them off an old TV but it can only really drive the G3's. I'm looking for a cheap amp that has enough power and dual out's so I can run the two sets together effectively. Since they were made in the 70's, the only connections on the back are the wee red and black terminals to clip the speaker cable into.

Anyone shed some light?

Get yourself on AV forum and do some research.

Don’t purchase off eBay, there are loads of quality shops that sell home AV at very good prices. Richer Sounds for instance.

Marantz amps are awesome mate, and not that expensive either, maybe look at one of those? I remember when I used to DJ in a fairly big pub, the Inkel PA amp blew up so I took my 100w Marantz along one night so we could at least have some music. The PA speakers in there were enormous Peavey things, I was a bit worried I would hurt my amp to be honest, but in fact it was clearer and louder than the pa amp that cost more and was a big rackmount thing!! Hardly even got warm playing the pub at loud levels.

Nice one guys, thanks for your help. I don't wanna spend loads of money but there's no point having nice big speakers and not being able to get them cranked up!

I'll maybe pop into Richer Sounds in Glasgow over the weekend and see what they can offer!
