Start engine and gauge reads 20 inhg, after the usual rev drop after about a minute the needle on the gauge drops to around 26/28 inhg. What can this be as it seems too high to be idling at that.

What makes you think this is too high? Is there an issue with the car?
Because a google search tells me it should be between 18/22 and it used to be 22 before I had my recirc valve and boost Solonoid changed. Since having them changed yesterday there’s a massive difference

Why was the valve and solenoid changed, presumably there was an issue? Does the car run and drive OK now?

Recirc valve had split and solenoid had gone but before I had them changed the idle vacuum was 18in/hg which is correct apparentlyand now it’s 24in/hg

If the recirc (or hose feeding it) was leaking before that could explain the difference. Does the car run and drive OK now?
