ts very likely this question has been asked many times already but cannot find a narrowed down reply..

basically got a start stop button already existing on my piano black dash... doesn't work, but i intend to have it working,
after assuming theres complications in installing in (The proper way)
is there and easier way of going about it... e.g illuminating wires and hard wiring to ignition barrel as a cheating way, i know many of you may not approve of cutting corners to get somethings to work. especially when it comes to electrics. but i am very intrigued to find out whether anyone has done this!

This will require a lot of parts and you're looking at spending hundreds if not thousands to get it working properly. In all honesty, it's just not worth it.

I'm sure you could wire it up to something else though

ohh not to bad then!! FML lol.. yeahh i guess i could do.. maybe to get it illuminating would be a good start lol.. still need the wires and block for it either way! thanks for the reply! and the heads up on taking out a loan.. for a button.! :0 lol

Done it with my old 206, I had a mate who was pretty clever and decided to mess about with my car, had a push button start (no stop) and an ignition switch hidden under the steering wheel column.

Couldn't tell you exactly how it works but i did take a photo of the wiring! haha

When he explained it to me it actually seemed quite simple!
However I did have the drawbacks of no steering lock, having to leave immobiliser in the car at all times, so not very secure!

I'd be surprised if a Vauxhall dealer knew how to fit the button in the dash to start with, let alone wire it up.

It is a very simple bodge, simply connect the ign and acc to a relay and a switch. But it is a bodge and as you say, not secure if done the cheap nasty way that your friend attempted.

You can buy kits that could easily be wired to the Vauxhall switch, but you still need the key in the ignition so pointless IMO

Only because they wont have the first clue how to do it. Most Vaux places dont know the basics of Tech2, never mind the massive amount of modification needed to add this

Hollow out the back of the switch, superglue an LED to it, wire the LED to the ignition, simples

This. Thing is, they're there to fix and maintain what is already on the car. They're not trained to be able to actually build the cars to start with...

It's like where I work, we're IT techs, but we're not trained to actually use the applications on a day to day basis, we just fix them when they break.

So I wouldn't expect a VX tech to do this sort of thing.

Let me know how you get And! would like to be able todo the same of I can't actually use the button in a sense lol

I have posted several times on how to wire this up so that pushing the button engages the starter motor, once the key is turned to position 2.

If I find the other threads, I will post a link.

Nobody has ever posted back to say they have carried out the mod though.
