Heres a geeky diagnostics question, I know the Astra 2000 G (X16XEL) and quite a few others has got a 16-pin DLC with

MULTEC(H)/X16XEL ECU according to ScanMaster ELM v2... It uses the KWP2000 protocol doing a google search on it...

ScanMaster ELM v2 says it supports my ECU year and engine code specifically using these protocols:
1. SAE J1850 PWM (41.6 Kbaud)
2. SAE J1850 VPW (10.4 Kbaud)
3. ISO 9141-2 (5 baud init, 10.4 Kbaud)
4. ISO 14230-4 KWP (5 baud init, 10.4 Kbaud)
5. ISO 14230-4 KWP (fast init, 10.4 Kbaud)

6. ISO 15765-4 CAN (11 bit ID, 500 Kbaud)
7. ISO 15765-4 CAN (29 bit ID, 500 Kbaud)
8. ISO 15765-4 CAN (11 bit ID, 250 Kbaud)
9. ISO 15765-4 CAN (29 bit ID, 250 Kbaud)

Supports generic SAE J1979 (Mode $01) parameter identifiers (PIDs) $00 through $87.

Using the v1.4 ELM327 interface from http://www.obdiitools.com/obdii-obd2-obd-can-14v-elm327-auto-scanner-usb-scantool-p-7.html

The interface supports KWP2000 protocol (fast and slow init) and supposedly all OBD2 compliant vauxhall/opels (they were OBD2 compliant? lol)

As listed in the details:

SAE J1850 PWM (41.6 kbaud)
SAE J1850 VPW (10.4 kbaud)
ISO 9141-2 (5 baud init, 10.4 kbaud)
ISO 14230-4 KWP (5 baud init, 10.4 kbaud)
ISO 14230-4 KWP (fast init, 10.4 kbaud)
ISO 15765-4 CAN (11 bit ID, 500 kbaud)
ISO 15765-4 CAN (29 bit ID, 500 kbaud)
ISO 15765-4 CAN (11 bit ID, 250 kbaud)
ISO 15765-4 CAN (29 bit ID, 250 kbaud)
SAE J1939

I understand they re-wired the v1.5 (mini version) as it uses a different pin layout as noted, a 'rewire it back' fix is over here, but I wouldnt be able to tell you if it works and WONT damage anything: http://forum.fiatecuscan.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1493

Anybody tried the v1.4 interface setup? does it work to get and clear codes? I know that it will NOT pick up the ABS or airbag systems...

Whats the difference between SAE J1979 (on the software) and SAE J1939 (on the interface) ???

From what I've read on it, it should work, and if scanmaster wont, the interface is supplied with some software supposedly able to do the same thing...

anybody got the v1.5 interface setup? I assume that wouldnt work without rewiring it back for the "older generation" of cars?
