Hi all!

One of the things that my Van ( G 1.7 diesel ) failed it's mot on was emissions. Any ideas how I can reduce them to get through the mot, or where I should be looking.

Air filter looks clean, and I've just bought a bottle of diesel redex as it claims to reduce emissions.

Any help appreciated

dervs dont get tested on emmisions.. only on smoke test so how did they fail you? :\

they do test emissions i got told

Drop the oil and replace with synthetic, fit a new oil filter, put some 'millers' diesel additive into your fuel tank and take it for a good thrash before the re-test.

they test emissions hence why you get a sheet with your emissions on? :sus:

they cant test things like the cat in the exhaust system tho

Yeah I think they do test the emissions now, recent thing tho I believe.

Wouldn't have thought they could apply it retrospectively to older cars tho?...

Well, they showed me the printout anyway, and said the 4's should be 3's basically, but I was in a big rush, so didn't look too much.

Have got some rede to pop in, doing an air/oil filter change this weekend, and hopefully that'll get it. I'll let you know how it goes.

Changed the oil and filter, popped in some redex, a tank of Ultimate Diesel, and it went through no problems. Cheers guys
