....You know them ones off the TV advert, anyone got one or seen one in the flesh? I think they look terrible and take away the cars good shape & looks from the front! Do they come standard on brand new builds now or as an optional expensive extra?

How annoying would that be?? I hate having a dirty windscreen at the best of times.

The panoramic windscreens do look weird, but sitting under one is even weirder. I sat in a SH with one at the motor show 2 years ago.

They also have a blind that can cover the panoramic part. Can you imagine the rattles that would come from that!!

Only an option on SH, not 5dr/estate, and not an option on the top diesels and petrols i believe, somat to do with engine weight, handling and risk of cracking.

also from the brochure. List of exlusions and option on other popular options probably makes it rare too, esepcially as not available on SH SRi XP models or VXR!

Panoramic
6 = Not available in conjunction with Sight and light pack, VXR Styling pack one or mobile phone system with Bluetooth®. Deletes illuminated driver’s and front passenger’s vanity mirrors, front map reading lights, body-colour roof mouldings and driver’s sunglasses holder. Not available in conjunction with Glacier White solid paint.
7 = Not available on SRi with Exterior pack models. Deletes ultrasonicsensors from remote control security alarm system.

Hi guys, i got panaramic. it costs about 800 quid to replace if damaged. to be honest, its not good to drive with the 'roof' back during the day, too many distractions, and no visors cause blindness! at nite time, they are brilliant viewing! i wasnt keen at first but im glad i got it now. the roof slides real cool and easy, i think i must be the first in my area, cos loads of people have stopped me and asked about it. so i gotta say, was good choice for me!

Although it's not very clear in the brochures the panoramic windscreen is available on the XP as I got one fitted on my 57 plate XP. Looks pretty good in black in particular as the remainder of the roof is black on all colours.

I thought it was a bit gimmicky at first and may be a complete waste of time, but it is actually quite good. With the blind back you get a lot of light into the cabin which can be nice whatever the weather. However, whether I have the blind forward or not usually depends on my mood! lol.

As mentioned before it can be difficult to drive with the blind open during the day sometimes as you then don't have any sun visors to use!

I've had the car 9 months now and have done 12k miles with no squeaks from the blind *fingers crossed*

Oh, and on an insurance note, I told the insurance company that I had it fitted and they told me it is covered under the usual windscreen cover.... and I have asked them on 2 separate occasions now just to make sure!

Not sure it's worth the £850 though.... I managed to get it for just over £700 which softened the blow, but I think it deletes too many other options such as bluetooth, sight and light pack etc etc. Sometimes think I'd rather of had those!

I have Panoramic windscreen and I love it! Always have it right back at night. Dont like it all the way down during the day as I find its too low, I usually end up just sliding it back a little way. Its not a case of it being all the way open or all the way close, you can have it anywhere in between. Pics of mine:

I would like to see one in the flesh - I've not seen one on the road. I'd also like to see it as an option on the 5 door - if it were available on the 5 door and hadn't been a £1200 option when I ordered mine I think I would have gone for it.

Even the electric sunroof for the 5 door was a £600 option so I had to say no to that too.
