Hi guys and girls

im a new member on new teritory here so please dont shoot me down

i currently have a dtuk tuning box (i think its a green one) which is fitted on my 1.9 cdti SRI 150ps 2007 astra (manual, 2007 model) - other mods include a full turbo back magnex exhaust.

currently ive been driving around calmly and having a little play here or there but mainly cruising back and forth from work, im pretty shocked at the fueling, i filled up £40 diesel from reserve and have achieved approx 160ish miles (most of which was cruising/economical driving) looking on the trip it approximates about 35ish mpg

now other things which i have concerns about are the smoke the car produces. obviosuly i understand it will smoke but everytime i put my foot down a little its as if alot of unburnt diesel is being thrown threw the exhaust.

my question is, would you say the dtuk box is causing overfueling issues becuase its not set up correctly or would you advise on removing this box and getting a live remap? and if i was to do the latter option would i see any improvement in fueling?

Thanks in advance.

Have you checked your swirl flaps to make sure they haven't broken? This will cause a reduction in MPG and also cause a LOT of excess smoke. Mine are broken at the moment and it isn't yet having a catastrophic effect on fuel, but if I hit high in the rev range, you can't see behind me through the amount of smoke.

Try turning the box down though. It may help it, but it may also be amplifying an underlying issue.

thanks for the reply buddy

are there any reliable garages around the london area that u can recommend to me that will be able to check them out, i understand it isnt a easy job to check this.

im located by heathrow and do not know of any astra enthusiast garages in the london area.

what do you think of removing the box and getting a remap too?

Try removing the box and going for a drive and see if the amount of smoke produced decreases.

As mentioned above, also check for fault codes, the swirl flaps and also the EGR valve.

As lashed says - do the pedal test and see if you have any error codes.

I recently had the same problems with excessive smoke and no power at low revs - turned out my EGR valve was sticking.
