After a garage told me that id cracked the sump I was suspicious so checked for myself the next day to find the exact spot that it was coming from, and when the engine was started it gushed out of this small hole in the side of this......

Anyone know the cause or solution?

1.7 CDTI by any chance?

My guess is that it's either your alternator / feed or seal which is leaking. On the 1.7 dervs, some of them have an oil cooled alternator. There are many different variants of alternator for these and only some have the oil cooled ones.

That's your alternator. If the oil is coming from the alternator, depending on engine, it could be the oil feed pipe or the O ring that needs replacing
