I’ve got myself in a right pickle.

Long story short my Astra J 2011 engine A17DTR was replaced with stupidly a A17DTE by some local guys I know. Back yard type stuff.

It was running very rough and smoking a lot. Computer said crank shaft sensor and camshaft sensor faults. Autotuner said this is the reason for the rough idle.

The two engine have slight different length sensors and different connections.

Me and my stupid ideas I tried to bodge job and forgot to disconnect the battery. It appears I have shorted something out.

I have put the original camshaft sensor back in but now the engine just cranks over and over but doesn’t start.

Going to get a multimeter later to see if there is voltage going to the sensor now. What possibly could I have done?

There are a lot of differences between the two engines, just a quick look shows they have different engine management systems, different injectors, different cam and crank sensors and different crank sensor reluctors,
tbh i'm surprised it ever ran at all, voltages to the sensors are the least of your problems right now.

Well at least it was running albeit a bit smokey and rough.
Need to get it back running regardless of the above.
