Hi,

so F23 is on its way out (according to my mechanic).

He said that there are 2 options:
1. Strip old one and try to fix it (but he is not gearbox specialist)
2. Buy used one

I am inching into 2nd option (yes - there is a risk buying knackered one), but I noticed that F23WR used in Corsa have lower final drive. This mean I can crusie at same speed witl less RPM.

So couple of questions:
1) Would gearbox from corsa fit?
2) Is it worth the hassle?
3) How much straight swap should cost (labour)
4) Bonus question - clutch is occasionally slipping - replace too? (would save on labour cost)

If it's slipping then no brainer (Y) no idea on the rest. Apart from labour only to replace I'd say £100 for a half decent mech

Oh well - update

Other versions (coming from different engine than 1.7) defo will NOT fit.

so back to QJ variant
