Thought I'd start a thread on my motor. 2006 SRI 1.9cdti 150.

Loved the styling of the Astra with XP and needed a Derv at the time.

Dealer Photo

Bought May 2010 and its not been the best of motors till yesterday, when I finally got my last problem sorted.

Day one on collecting her the clutch failed on the motorway, less than 15 minutes after collecting her so I was without the car for 5 days whilst they sorted it out. My 1st few days of Astra driving was in a 1.4 Life. Was going to refused the Astra there and then under the SOGA and get my traded in "pride and joy" mk1 Modded Octavia vRS back, but had a soft spot for the Astra.

After getting the car back it was back at the dealer every other week as I wasn't happy with the car, dealer ended up just telling me to take them to court if I wasn't happy after 2 months and get the car checked out and they will repair "my ghost" problems. They said they are that confident nothing is wrong with the car I could have a 2 year warranty FOC. (Thank god I got that from them.) More to the story, I won't bore you, that's the short version.

9 months on the gearbox was worse than ever, new gearbox installed.

2 months on Swirl flaps went, had new inlet manifold, EGR Valve and Actuator.

This month clunking through steering got worse, dealer admitted they didnt know what the cause was, but on removing the suspension and putting it back together all is well.

All of the above had symptoms from purchase, but the supplied warranty has covered everything to date and I have had the best service ever from my local dealer.

22,000 miles and 15 months of driving her, lets forget the bad things, fingers crossed she is going to behave herself from now on.

Mods to date:
Cruise Control
Dimpled and Grooved Discs MTec discs
Insignia Washer Jets
De Badged
Kenwood HU
Badgeless front grill
Cool glove box switch

To Do / Maybe's:
Lowerered on sportlines
Wind Deflectors
Amp, Wiring Kit, Fit my active Sub that has been sat in my garage out of my vRS
SMD Conversion (maybe, depends on cost)
Eco Box (Maybe, not sure after having a replacement gearbox)
Get rear bumper sprayed from my incident with a wall

Will post up some clean car pictures when I have the chance.

And one for fun, This is me.

Jobs done myself if I can be of help to anyone:
Discs and pas changed all round
Drop links changed
Pollen filter changed
Steering wheel removal/refit
Front grill removal/refit
EGR clean removal/refit
Boost sensor clean removal/refit
Change headlight/sidelight bulbs
Washerjet change

Popped the cheap ebay grill on today, Just need to decide how to paint it.

I'm thinking 1st slat body coloured and the 2 others left black.
