so it’s been a little while.
I got the eml light on yesterday on the way home from work so I did the pedal test and got 2 codes.
0400 egr valve
p0572 cruise control/brake switch a circuit low

I knew the egr was an issue as I’d had slow starting from cold and recently a slightly lumpy idle on odd days.
so today I’ve fitted a blanking plate to see if that sort the issues there

Does anyone with experience know if I should remove and blank the vac pipe at the back of the egr too?

The 2nd code is a bit of a mystery to me tbh so any advice would be great! Cheers

I'm sure you've already searched but this seems generic to that code
How do I fix code P0572?
The most common repair for the P0572 code is replacing a failed brake light switch.
...
However, other repairs that may be necessary include:
  1. Replacing a failed cruise control switch.
  2. Adjusting a poorly adjusted brake light switch.
  3. Replacing blown fuses.
  4. Replacing faulty cruise control modules (rare)

Hey mate yeah I had a look, seems kinda vague and is possibly an old code.
Ive just been for a little duel carriageway run And the EML light is no longer on.
I have to say, blanking the EGR has made a massive difference to the way it drives!
Much better throttle response and no longer sluggish

I guess it’s a case of getting the code cleared and see if it comes back if possible,
I’ve just bought a decent version of op-com for such issues but haven’t worked out how to or spent the time getting the software sorted on the laptop yet

Got a weird issue with the brake light switch at the minute.
I only had to rear top brake light lighting up and a brake switch fault code.
I bought a replacement switch but it was the 2 prong and mine is a 4 prong (cruise control models).
when I fit the new switch only the drivers side brake light lit up 🤔😅

I’ve ordered a new 4 prong switch but have to wait for it now. Any one else had issues with this?

Got the front bumper off before and went at a couple of jobs.
First way checking out and “sorting” the crash bar corrosion. It’s not looking great tbh. I wire brushed it back and tidied up the surface, then hit it with some k-rust.
It’ll have to be replaced at some point as I found a few small rust holes straight through.

Got a new (old) motor for my partner today so time to say bye to the Fiesta.
Here’s the new car

1.2 sxi Corsa C
9 months mot
75k miles
£500

Now there are a couple of issues I spotted.
It’s got the dreaded wet drivers side front & rear footwell. Checked the washer bottle and under the scuttle panel, cleared it all out and cleaned up but I think I’ll have to reseal behind the brake master cylinder ASAP.
Also needs a little welding under the battery tray so that’s on the list.
drives well tho so fingers crossed that’s all that needs doing for the time being.

all of the wipers and washers stopped working on the Corsa. I checked the fuse and wiring to the loom and seems fine so last night I replaced the motor and linkages for the front wipers.

Got the old one out and the new fitted and still nothing. I’ve ordered a new (2nd hand) wiper stalk to see if thats the issue. I’ll let you know 🙄

Weirdly, the front wipers now work but not the rears. I’ve got a rear wiper motor on the way and and new MAF and a wiper stalk.

Weather’s nice today so gave the inside a vacuum and Polish

Managed a couple of little jobs between downpours this morning.
1. Fit new (painted) rear bumper
2. Replaced headlights with old clear ones as o/s was full of condensation/rain water.
3. Gave rust on front bumper mount a spray of anti rust primer.
4. Gave it a wash

Been hard at it this morning. Coilovers fitted and she’s sitting nice n low

that’s copper grease not rust on the threads.

35464

new droplinks fitted too. I was going to change the track rod ends too but they look fairly new so I didn’t.

After:

Took her for a short drive and no issues at all. I live on a road with speed bumps and only scrapped very lightly on one (just the angle I went over it).
I will get the tracking sorted and the rear brake pressure regulator adjusted too.

Fit the straight pipe this morning. Probably the easiest exhaust fitting I’ve ever done. Off and on no issues 👌🏻😆

doesn’t sound much different but definitely has a bit more poke on acceleration.
just got back from having the wheels aligned as well, much better.
