Compared to Astra J 2.0 cdti torque wise , would merc be better or not really?
Their's 0-60 is roughly on the paper about the same.

What tony says, better build quality, 1 of the best auto boxes ever, previous model was a dog, but daimler took iver building at the tail end of the w204, chrysler built1s are crap, but remember, what merc puts in its flagships are in main stream cars 10yrs later, and believe me it does go quick

I'm looking on auto boxes only due to shoulder complications , I'm doing about 6k miles a year.
Someone before suggested to me to get a turbo petrol instead , due to diesel might suffer from short journeys.
Anything turbo petrol wise worth looking , pretty much i prefer 2door cars.

Get a VAG with a DSG box. I'd be going for a Golf GTI if I wanted a 2dr auto for 6000 miles a year
