Right im not the most clued up when it comes to this sort of thing so i wondered if I could get some help please :D

Gonna be changing from my factory CD30 MP3 to an aftermarket one.

Thought i'd throw some questions up and hopefully people can answer :D

1. I'm gonna get a single DIN stereo, is the wiring there to fit it to my car? or do you need to buy that for the astra?

2. Can i get one that still allows me to use my steering wheel controls?

3. Can you get one with an ipod lead that i can feed under the handbrake so its hidden?

4. Where is best to get a silver dash surround for the single DIN player?

Thanks for the help :D

Try looking up VXmmi dude... I'm not that knowledgeable about ICE, but VXmmi is an all-in-one system with TV, DVD, iPod, CD, radio etc.. and works with all steering wheel controls etc.. :) I want one! lol

around £100 mate, tbh I'm not that big into ICE and like i said as long as it plays my CD's and I can hook my ipod up im not fussed. :)

so really the cheaper the better, got totally standard speakers in the car too and it does me fine :)

would really appreciate the help Ian :)

that looks good. does it still work with the steering controls? Seen some reasonably priced double DIN ones which look good aswell!

anyone got a link to some cheaper double DIN players that would work with my steering controls? :)

Haha didnt you say single din just a moment ago? Yes it works with your steering controls providing you buy that wiring, definitly worth paying the extra, the Ipod control is Brilliant. I have a picture of mine installed if you want to see it

The Astra H is Canbus so that fitting kit you have on the G will not work.

If you go for the Kenwood (I have just purchased a Double Din Kenwood) you will need these to fit it in your Astra.

So keep about £100 back for fitting kit. This is the only way on the H to fit a head unit and keep screen BID/GID/CID (minus radio/ cd/track info)
change the time with out putting the old unit back and more importantly keep the steering wheel controls.

The link I posted was for wiring up to 2009 reg :p ....just thought it might help to see it fitted in a car

Quick question - will the single din cage supplied with the aftermarket stereo clip in to the taller space somehow, or does the facia adaptor do the job of holding it in place?

the name 'fascia adapter' is the hint mate lol it adapts the double din space to allow any single din cd player to fit, so yes the adapter will do the job of holding the cage, and the adapter is clipped into the double din hole (Y)
