When I bought my car I also decided to get Vauxhall to fit me an iPod lead.

So after I got it back from the garage I noticed they'd put it in the most STUPIDEST place, directly under the handbrake.

The wire sticks out about 4 inches or so, so there is not much room to move it.

So I was wondering, how do I go about re-positioning this wire, not only this but I think the fact that it is squashed in between the plastic part (at the front of my gearbox) it is distorting the sound....

I'de ideally like it coming out from under the left side of the centre console unit thing so I can put in a holder on the left and slot it into there so it's easier to use whilst i'm driving along.

Any help please? I'll get some pictures if i've not explained it clearly enough.

Thanks!

Jon.

I was scared of breaking it actually, I might go and have a look now then to see if I can move it around...

Does it literally just push up if I lever it open with a flathead or something?

To my suprise, there is atleast 2 feet of cable jammed inside there!!! Me thinks re-routing it back up and through the air vents and getting myself a vent cradle might be a thing to do here... Is that as simple as it sounds? Or am I going to encounter problems? :/ never done anything like this before!!!

it is as simple as it sounds. The only hard part will be drilling into wherever you want to mount the socket

By socket do you mean the cradle?

I was thinking of just getting one of these

[ame]http://www.amazon.co.uk/Duragadget-Iphone-Touch-windscreen-cradle/dp/B001SG1J9G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1251400512&sr=1-1[/ame]

will just clip straight into the Vent so no drilling required

Thanks for the help! Going to attempt to do this tomorrow when it's daylight.

Hmm yeah.... Is there any correct way of doing that? I've not looked behind the head unit yet but i'm expecting to just pull it out, pop the cable up and carefully slot it through the vent.... But knowing my luck it's not going to be that easy!

So how should I do this? Any tips please?

No i doubt it is going to be that easy. The air vents are part of the heating system, which (i assume) is sealed, so you have to find a way of getting into there in the first place.
