Hi I have a Astra 1.7 cdti 2012 witch had a rough tick over so I was advised to change the suction control valve but after doing so I got code 84 on dash intermittently so I replaced it with the old one I took off thinking the new one was faulty car drove for about half a mile cut out and won’t start all help would be much appreciated thanks

Code 84 means engine power is reduced,
which is useless for diagnostic purposes as i'm sure you will have figured that out without a warning message.
First the car needs a proper code read to see what's triggering the warning,
was the scv a genuine one from a dealer ?
there are lots of fakes doing the rounds and can make the car run worse than an old one that's faulty.
