For information it has taken me three months to get to the bottom of this, as I know there has been lots of chat as regards this.
The manual states Halogen headlights do not need to be altered whilst driving abroad. This is incorrect. It means they cannot be adjusted only.
After a lengthy discussion 2 hrs with my local Vauxhall garage beam benders have to be fitted, if on holiday.
If you are moving to Europe as I am it is two new headlights as fitted to left hand drive cars, otherwise you will fail MOT equivalent.
Cost £700 including fitting.

Fit beam benders temporarily, then try and get head lights while over there from a rear ended accident damaged astra. Or ask the company to pay for it as part of your relocation package.

I'm already in talks with company about paying for it as part of relocation package not holding up much hope though.
As for the other idea never thought of that .
