FOOT lights that work with your interior lighting and when you open the door, and fade in and out. this is not connected too your ambient lighting and will not be on when you are driving, only when you use your interior lighting unit or enter or leave the car, i will be using a small LED bulb that will be replaced with a strip light that i don't have yet.

FIRST REMOVE GLOVE BOX FROM PASSENGER FOOT WELL. THERE ARE 4 10MM BOLTS.

THEN DICONECT THE LIGHT, WARNING DO NOT LEAVE THE LIGHT ON AS I DID IF YOU TOUCH ANY THING METAL WITH IT YOU WILL SHORT THE LIGHT OUT. IF THAT DOES HAPPEN JUST LOCK THE CAR AND WAIT 10 MIN,S. IT WILL RESTET IT,S SELF AND WORK AGAIN.
OK LOOK LEFT BEHIND THE FUSE BOX YOU MAY NEED A TOURCH HERE AND LOOK FOR THESE WIRES.

YOU NEED TOO LOOK FOR THE BIGGEST GRAY WIRE. PUT RED ON LED TO THIS WIRE AND BLACK TOO AN EARTH POINT.
Image

Image

THEN TEST THE LIGHT, OPEN THE DOOR LIGHT COMES ON. PRESS LIGHT CONSOLE LIGHT COMES ON.
Image

THEN JOIN ANUTHER BULB UP TOO THE ONE YOU DID THRED THROU TOO THE OTHER FOOT WELL AND FIND SOMEWHERE TOO MOUNT THE BULB,S.

AND JOB,S. A GOOD ONE THANK,S. TOO DAVE C FOR FINDING THAT WIRE TOP MAN.
PUT SOME PIC,S. UP TONIGHT BUT DONT THINK THEY WILL LOOK TOO GOOD WITH SMALL LED,S. BUT ALL MY WIRE,S ARE NOW INPLACE READY TOO SWAP OVER FOR SOME BETTER ONE,S. WILL POST PIC,S WHEN THEY TURN UP.

they are working really well open door they come on and fade out after a min.

Great work there tucpal - great that we now have a more step-by-step guide to this

I'm still not clear on where that bunch of wires is though that the grey wire is in... could you maybe add an arrow pointing the location of the grey wire is this pic:

OK LOOK LEFT BEHIND THE FUSE BOX YOU MAY NEED A TOURCH HERE AND LOOK FOR THESE WIRES.

not shure how too do the arrow, when you remove the glove box you have too look behind the fuse box looking left and up the wires will be going up the piller too the light console unit. there just by a big bunch of cable, you just have too identify the one with 4 gray cables and pick the thickest one.

if you look at this picture you can see the top clip on the back of the fuse box that should put you in the right direction.

there's not much room down there in the foot well for strip lights so i had too wait 2 weeks for the square LED,S too come from hong kong, but it was well worth the wait and they have sticky on the back as well. very impressed with the light out put. and they go with the red LED in the roof light,s. its nice too see where your feet are when you get into the car now.
here,s a link if any one want,s them.

Hi guy, quick question folks, did you have to buy extra wire to reach to the drivers footwell or is it long enough to reach the passenger footwell to splice in?

Cheers

I think everyone who has done this so far has been a 5-door - GTC could be different perhaps.

Ok dude cheers. Rusty2009 is going to take pic of wire he spliced into in the roof as we think this will be easier. Thanks for help though.

I've borrowed some of Tucpal's pic's (hope that is ok?)

I know you have some of this done already but I'll put it up any way.

Pull the rubber off around the door

Image

remove this so can remove the glove box

Image

remove glovebox

Image

remove the fuse board

Image

I've not removed the glove-box this time but here's a pic of where I fed my wires from the other side.

Image

then pull the A-pillar off BE CAREFUL THERE IS AN AIRBAG HERE, you can see where I have run my wires (its orange)

Image

Then run them up into the roof by the windscreen they will tuck in nicely.

then remove the light box surround

Image

then remove light

Image

these are two wires I used, one is black and one is grey (be warned there are two grey's).

I would suggest before you start splicing though just push the wires in on top the pins to make sure it's the same and that it works.
