Can anyone help me find out what these codes are please, any voltage measurement to carry out and repairs. Thanks in anticipation.
P0381 (4) Glow Time Telltale Circuit Voltage low.
P0251 (8) Spill Valve Malfunction (Injector Pump) Not Present.
Is this in relation to your other posts ?
if so, the glow plug code doesn't usually cause a non start,
the P0251 however does cause a non start and is usually down to dry joints in the EDU pcb,
there's no in tank pump on this engine, the fuel relies on the HP pump to drag it up so you won't get any fuel when cranking at the filter inlet pipe
Thank you so much valer, you have been a great help to me in the past. As is is peeing down with rain, I hope to have a look at this tomorrow, or later. I'm an electronics tech by trade so should be able to suss it out if it's a soldering job. Sorry to rabbit, but yes this is connected to the other posts I put on. Just bought another fuel filter anyway. Has this anything to do with P-0381, or is this a second fault. Once again Ta Muchly.
You should find videos on you tube for the pcb repair,it used to be really common,
the p0381 won't be related,
i'd get the edu sorted first then move on to the glow plug circuit issue if it was mine.
These are the usual suspects for the dry joints, you should find it a doddle to rectify
let us know how you get on.
Thanks, just jacking up and putting car on stands. I'll keep you up-dated if and when I find the fault. I've noticed a few company's are giving a repair service. What do you think of these and if I can't fix it by resoldering do you suggest anyone.
I can't recommend any one in particular, most of the ones I sorted was when I worked at a dealer,so new units were fitted, the last one I fitted was over 5 years ago and purchased from an eBay seller, but I've no idea which one.
Hi again Valer. Just thought I'd let you know that I've managed to fix my problem. There were a couple of dry joints mainly on the coil. De-soldered all the joints indicated and re-soldered, fitted it to the car with tape to hold the back on and 2 x 10mm bolts. Car started like her old self on the first crank. I've now removed the unit to properly seal it. Thanks for the diagram, it was invaluable.
