'Display safe' in a 2007 Mk5

Yes as a start you need the cars sec code plus something capable of connecting to and changing the settings,once you have those you can connect to the radio and display and see if the code allows access or not to either,
from that you'll be able to work out where the safe problem lies.
Another option is to buy a working matched pair of radio & display and just fit those.
 
No, tech 2(or opcom come to that) won't sort it without the sec code(s)to allow access,
i posted info earlier for you about it

It's a different setup on your H to the G the thread is about,
on the H the radio and display are married together using a scan tool,this requires the cars security code (on car pass)
Removing the battery doesn't have any effect and leaves the two units married so there's no need to enter any codes.
It sounds as though the previous owner may have changed either the radio or display but hasn't divorced the unit before fitting to the van.
