Hello could anyone please help me with a problem I'm having with my Astra.

Astra 2008 1.6T Design 5Dr
I'm having problems with the check control system since it has been on tech2 to have my colour screen display the trip computer screen and to see if the check control was working.
When I got the car back the first time I started the car the windscreen washer level low warning came up so I checked but it was already full.
Then the coolant level low warning started to came on as well so I checked that and that was fine. The car went back to my vauxhall dealer and was told that this model was not fitted with a check control system but my owners manual says there is one but doesn't specify which model.
Could anybody please help me as I feel like I'm being given the brush off.

Thanks in advance for viewing this post and any help given.

Sounds to me like they have enabled the check control system - without checking if your car is fitted with the necessary sensors etc..

I stand to be corrected, but I dont think this was fitted 'across the board' on the facelifted models - mine certainly doesnt.

This is a setting in the UEC (underhood electrical centre). This needs to be disabled if there are no under-bonnet sensors.

The check control in the display can be left on and will tell you about bulbs out, etc.

the uec setting are neither here or there tbh its the variant configuration in the screen that is wrong

Chris, next time you have tech2 plugged in, try this.

Enable the check control in the screen, leaving it disabled in the UEC. Result will be that the car will tell you about bulbs etc. that are out but won't tell you about coolant and washer fluid levels.

Now try enabling it in the UEC. Result will be that, unless you have the sensors, the display will keep bugging you about low coolant and washer fluid. Like this:

Now try leaving it enabled in UEC but disable it in the display. Result will be no warnings of any kind.

So what he needs to do, if he wants to get bulb check etc. warnings, is leave it enabled in the display but get it disabled in UEC variant config.

My car has it turned on in DIS and off in UEC and has the bulb check warnings etc. but nothing about washer fluid/coolant. Turning in on in the UEC starts the washer/coolant warnings straight away.

Same in Dave OPC's old Astra, when turning on the check control in UEC, the messages came on on the display

Unfortunately, I can't program it in the screen, only the UEC (which is no good for you if you don't have the sensors).

I went to diag_man to get the setting in my screen changed, but this can be done with tech2.

Thanks for all the info on my little problem. The answer to my problem was there are no sensors fitted to the coolant header tank or the washer bottle, I am looking into having them fitted depending on if the wiring is there.
