Really getting quite annoyed with this car now! Just had te alternator replaced and now more problems!!

I was driving down the motorway and all of a sudden, spanner light came on the dash and noticed a loss of power.

My initial thought is EGR valve. But I have LOTS of codes.

These are:

62101
56003
7071
50074
60632
23460
112501
50071

Any help would be really appreciated!!

Some of those will be old codes from when the alternator went wrong.

Would have helped if whoever replaced the alternator cleared any fault codes.

P0234 is boost pressure related, had you just squeezed the throttle to overtake or something?

But yes, there's a lot of red herrings there I suspect.

I didn't overtake anyone, was cruising at about 70 with cruise control, cancelled it cos I was about to come off onto the slip road and the light came on and lost the power. I looked up some codes and a few of em said cruise control. But do t k ow if I looked up the wrong codes.

Lost the power until parked up. Not tried it since. Will give it a proper test tomorrow on the way to work

Welcome to the club I've had my car back from a full engine refurb less than a week now she's sitting outside my house awaiting collection tomorrow as the boost valve has gone along with the alternator :(

I've just been to take the mrs to work and my boost issues aren't there anymore. The engine doesn't sound right tho. Seriously considering selling up. One thing after another with my car. Lol. Never had a car like it.

It's a shame cos I really love the car when it's working. Just a pain that once you get something fixed, another thing goes pretty much straight after it. Getting the timing belt done this week. Hopefully that might sort some noise issues out but I don't think it will

I know how you feel fella mines the best and yet worst car I've had, like love it and hate it lol, but something only ever seems to go wrong when I get it back from repairs or when I get sent home early from work! I think it's abit of a conspiracy lol but the AA love me haha getting my money's worth on that haha

Haha I'm thinking of upgrading my AA. Mine usually goes wrong after I've spent money modding it so I no longer have money to fix it. Lol.

Well luckily I've not spent too much yet most being £200 for some wheels lol plus my refurb I had was free by Evans Halshaw due to the massive problems I've had with cooling system, overheating, immobiliser , and a tone of electrical problems since I bought the car and with threatening legal action ect, come to think alternator comes under my extended warranty right? Although it wasn't broke before it went in for engine refurb……….…

I would have thought it would mate, hope for your sake It is cos it's not the cheapest to replace. I got mine refurbed and that cost £220. A new one your prob looking around £300. So I'd look into it as it seems like a pretty common problem.

I've replaced all my fuel Injectors, crankshaft sensor, alarm faults, drop links, alternator, needs a new radiator as its got a leak, needs timing belt doing, and have my engine doest sound too great when idling. So need to check that out. And that's just the mechanical stuff that I've changed. Lol. Spent far too much cash on this car. Lol.

Yeah watch the radiator that's what ended me up with a full engine rebuild and refurb, mine decided to explode while I was exiting on the off ramp of J10 of the M6 lol

Got some radweld in it atm which is holding up nicely until I can find the money to fix it. Next on my list after the timing belt. How much did your engine rebuild cost if you don't mind me asking, or was it covered under warranty?

Well……… originally my extended warranty was going to pay for a new one but after a 5k quote they tried shifting the blame elsewhere, ie me, saying I ran it without any water, oil or coolant, so after many arguments with the dealer and warranty guys the dealer paid out as the car I part ex'd with was mint not a single problem less than 25k and full service and work history for my lump of what turned out to be well poo for a better word.

I haven't got the itinerary to had at work can let you know when I'm home, I believe it was in the region of £1500+ after everything like I'll look when I'm home ;)

Best get my radiator fixed quick time then! Ha. I'm hoping once I've sorted all the problems I've got now, the car will be play nice and run well for a while. Or atleast until my bank account recovers a bit. Lol.

Haha yeah!, although apparently there was a radiator recall back in the day, my car didn't have the repairs do that's how I got the ball in my court argument wise so it's worth researching a little see of you can do that with your local Vaux dealer.........
