silver/black theme SE

Well seen as my other progress thread has dissapeared into thin air i thought i would make a little new one with just the pics i still have on my pc.
Image

how i bought the van..

first off 4 new tyres and full service
then started the rear plylining and speaker install.
Image

Image

Image

then off came the sunstrip. some may argue but not my thing
Image

Image

then carbon wrapped the rear strip.
Image

Image

then came some new wheels. some astra vxr 18 inch replicas as i would batter the 19s with roads where i live :L
Image

few weeks later i finally decided to go for st orange calipers.. really wanted a deep electric dark purple but struggled to find the colour in heat resistant paint i wanted and was afraid they would come out pink or not bold enough for me.. so orange for now
Image

Image

Image

play about on insta..
Image

Image

after the wheels i was saving for an eonon but sick of no progress so bought smoked side repeaters and vxr surrounds. small cheap mod but look great! esspecially on the vans.
Image

then the eonon came.. after alot of messing about with it it was all in with ps2 install and sub and speakers all hooked up.
Image

Image

Image

also added some ebay special leds which i think i am gunna relocate to beneath the ply and above the plastics on the side in the near future..

then i started saving bigtime for my insurance so not much progress at all for months.. :( all i bought was some detailing products from juicy which is one of best things i ever did.
Image

learnt how to clean and protect a motor and now my pet hate is people that dont wash their cars properly! (dad) love detailing cars now and i now do dads rs4 and sisters boyfriends ultra blue astra... :L

then a damily friend who had been helping us out at work recently phoned me trying to sell me some seats... i thought oh dear what crap is he trying to sell me here.
turns out they were astra vxr racing full leathers! the guy he knew wanted 500 for the seats and after abit of talking with my mate i offered him 400 for the fronts.. and i got them, mate delivered them to my work aswell and suprised me with a rear bench and all door cards too and told me hes got me a right deal. he sure had so had to give him a few beer tokens :p
Image

400 for a full leather vxr interior. i was happy as larry!

so got home that day and couldnt wait to get them in as the standard seats were pants tbh...
Image

love this pic :)
Image

Image

Image

sold the rears for 120 and door cards for 60 so had 220 left in thr front seats,, bargain! :D

Image

then as the van was looking like a moster truck i had to lower it. didnt wanna go too low as the roads near where i live are really bad. so picked up some eibach springs off the forum. fronts sat perfectly for me but the rear is still way too high hopefully when the psrings bed in they will drop alot more. if not i may get some of the lower eibach springs just for the rear.

future mods:
Finish plylining back of van off-done most of it last weekend but pics will be up of the end product by this weekend hopefully :)
Custom Remap (next friday)
EGR disable (next friday)
HEKO wind deflectors (should be here tomora)
Brighter reverse light bulbs
lower rear springs or possibly coilies (if the rear doesnt drop much more once the springs have bedded in)
Wheel Spacers
possibly a RARB if one comes up at a decent price
SMD conversion and a few other bits that need tech 2 along with needle sweep

winter mods:
front bumper respray in the same style it is now i think but sprayed centre gloss black instead of matte black wrap
OR
a vxr front bumper (still havnt decided what looks best the vxr front end or xp bumper with the sprayed centre)

carbon dipped wing mirrors v grill and rear boot strip
wheel refurb as the finish isnt great on them atm.

pics of hekos and tax disc holder ;)
and a sneaky peak at the winter project! :p
still need to get pics up of the back all finished but will do this at weekend as i might add a little more wood to make the sub look more built in, you will understand when you see it and im unsure wether to carpet the van floor or leave the rubber mat i have in now.. opinions?

Im presuming this is Toms old van?? nice to see more of your own personal stuff:thumbs: The springs will not go much lower, Eibachs would be my last choice, Supersport are slightly more but achieve the look with out hampering the vans carrying.

The Audi look was first done by Tom. How about the AMG look, just the bottom middle splitter? ( to be different )

1275cc going in ;)

yeh it is mate and thanks :) the eibachs werent expensive so snatched them up now hopefully some good lower springs will come up over this winter ready for next season.

tom made a great job of wrapping it as its what he did for a job signwriting :) but with stone chips on wraap it looks shocking where you can see bits of silver coming through, this is why i think im gunna get it resprayed in the same style i really doubt i will be able to wrap it myself to same standard tom did it :L
what do you mean by amg look?

and it is the 1275 its actually a project for my brothers first car but mostly me and my dad doing all the work :L will maybe start a progres thread once we get on to spraying as the engine and running gear is pretty straight forward and nothing special really so boring for you all to read :L

i think were going with rollys royce nutmeg brown for the colour (my idea) :p but after all bumpers are on and arches and everything is smoothed nicely :)

almost finished the back off. moving the lights lower down and haslf behind the ply so its more subtle. and adding red leds in the port hole between the 2 subs.
also gunna add some ply either side of the sub to make the subs look more built in wrapped in carpet and then i think were done until a crazy mod that will take alot of effort which will be done over the winter ;)

V smooth m8, bang on. i very much like your orange calipers, done mine black myself. We shud line ours together as im goin the same silver/black way ;) wen i have time to finish it, painting in the cold is a nightmare, gloss black takes an eternity to dt finished my door handles, my vxr reps next. But mine r a bit battered, urs are shiny new. Got mine for 200 with new tyres ;)

#15 ·
I. Paid 400 with tyres! And there not shiny new :( laquer peel on them an paint peel on one there gettin powder coated but gunna wait till after the harsh winter I think :) I wanna go with vxr front bumper but got a lot of nice comments about the wrapped grill last night at hulloween so unsure wether to just respray my standard one or go with vxr bumper

#19 ·
Slick m8. I like your bumper, something diff. Looks mint with the roof. Im spraying my rims myself, sanding them down to very smooth with alot of coats of each, primer, paint & lacquer. Iv seen shot blast & powder coat & wasnt impressed. and iv put my stock 15s on for winter, which sent me sideways last night... No grip at all.

#22 ·
i dont have another set of wheels for van so nothing to roll around on whilst i get my vxr reps redone. i was sideways last night too! vans twitchy on th eback end with no weight in the back which i learnt myself last night and scared myself a lil bit if im honest :L

#23 ·
Lol. greasy salt + rain = bum clenching moments. If ur not short of cash u can pick up a set of rims for ÂŁ100 ish with tyres from a scrapers. However check for cracks & check the back for mishape / buckles from a few meters back. Learnt from experience...

no progress yet. ordering vxr rep bumper from lmf end of this month as im sick of waiting for a 'cheap'ish one to come up. along with a vxr grill which will be carbon dipped same time i take my wing mirrors and rear strip.
searching for some astra estate rear seats. leather or half leather and going for a rear seat conversion and if it all goes **** up then got some wacky ideas for the back of the van. either way theres gunna be lots of suede :D:D
above should be done by end of year and gunna take the van off the road for a week whilst i get my wheels powder coated and get cracking with the conversion.

also want a new head unit as im sick of my eonon! along with piano black dash and top half of dash flocked in suede along with a pillars and full estate roof lining.
might go for a smd conversion and abit of tech 2 work with this too but depends on the money i have after the seats and bumper which are expensive mods and christmas which always hits the bank balance hard.

want to sort the rear stance out too somewhere along the line as its too high for me :/
been too long since i posted in here so few pics taken today after a wash :)

Some more progress tonight although felt like I was going backwards lol. Stripped the whole rear of the van out. Subs and speakers gone along with bulkhead. Van seems alot quicker with all that weight gone! Picking astra estate rears seats and headlining up tomora. Then get the grinder out tomora night on van floor. Watch this space as they say ;) XD

#32 ·
some progress today.
got the floor all out which was a lot harder than i thought it would be. i hate spot welds! lol
all out now though found some half leather rear seats which should be able to pick up on tuesday. still searching for estate rear seatbelts at a reasonable price along with rooflining.

hahaha! the shed is my dads lol he drives it to work and back everyday cos its abit of a trek and doesnt wanna wack loads of mileage on gtr. i told him he should get an astavan (Y) :L it is shocking to drive but its all sighwritten up now and does job. suppose it makes gtr even more of a treat to drive :L
and i have a tv i just like to keep busy :p enjoy little projects and was tempted to buy a restoration project to do over the winter but lil brothers got a classic mini which were working hard on now so thought seat conversion would be abit of fun (how wrong could i be) lol and my gf is not pregnant if thats what your suggesting like all my work mates :p
