Hi, trying to fix my father in laws Astra. It drives ok but after a while starts to over heat and we get steam off the radiator.
So, coolant level is fine, fan works, (Jumped between 30 & 87 on the relay), changed the Temp sensor on the rad and no codes showing. But still the fan doesn't come on when car heats up. Especially in traffic. Any suggestions as I'm now a bit stumped!!

What actual temperature is it getting to ?
a lot of the 1.6's are designed to run very hot with the stat only starting to open @ 105c
and the fans not kicking in till around 115c.

Hotter than it previously did. I will run out tomorrow and check the temp. (Now I know how to get it up on display!!). But I did notice a small waft of steam coming from the top of the rad area this evening.
The system seems to be pressuring up ok but now wondering if there is a leak, however small, this might effect the fan not switching on??
