Will have the lowered suspenders as standard, unless you can find one fitted with Flexride system - the sports button (optional extra). Came out in 2009 so getting there for 3 years Steve

 

Good Choice of engine, but test drive 1.4t with the sri, se and elite specs. The rides on se and elite are more comfort.
I was going to get the sri,(it is firm ride not ideal in country lanes, but shopping around i managed to find a 1.4t elite for the same price as the sri, and it came with extras as standard, ie climate control, all leather but had park sensors & usb extra

I really like my H, but will renew at some point. Sat in a new J, think it was a 1.4 exclusive (none turbo).
When I bought my car just over 2 years ago. I liked the seating & dash arrangement. Yet wasn't that keen on outside appearance of the J at the time. Starting to grow on me a bit now. An elite would be nice, like leather seats. Wife's Tig has them. Neither am I bothered about alloy wheels.
I retro fitted cruise & sports button to my 57 H 1.6 sxi. Out the two, would prob miss the cruise more.
I also use B roads alot, due to work. So gave me something to think about. Prob a slightly firmer ride that what I have with my H would be best for me, I think. Not too firm though. I don't think my vvt SXI has uprated suspension, think some of the earlier one's did. I do like the tighter steering feel though with the sports button.

I wouldnt buy a 1.4t theyre poo on fuel average 19.6mpg around local and 42mpg on motoerway at 62mph.

Even old gti does better and gets driven hard insyead of like a girl on the astra.

 

I've averaged 41.5mpg (combined driving), over the last 6k from my 1.6vvt. Official figures 43.5 combined, not that I think they're achievable. That's from my 1.6vvt. As you can tell, I'm not usually a fast driver. Driving hard would prob achieve around 38 with sports button:lol:Thought the 1.4T would have been a bit better than my current H?

 

Blimey, surprised you getting that low, around town i am getting 32- 35, and on motorways 50 / 52

 

36 mpg down to 34 on local roads doing about 40 mph on 8 mile trips mainly to my Daughters, picking up Grand son and taking him back at night.

 

I think the ride on sri is fine, even on 18"s so it's got to be worth a test drive to see what suits you.
I've driven much crashier cars in the past and this is still very smooth and composed, even on B roads.
