It has been 30 years since the legendary name of Astra was first used for a new revolution in vehicle design, comfort and performance. To commemorate this, and coinciding with the UK launch of the new Vauxhall Astra, we are holding the Homecoming 2009 event at the home of the Astra, Ellesmere Port in Cheshire, on Sunday September 27th.
Continuing the history of the Astra into the 21st century, Vauxhall will be launching the latest model to carry its name at Ellesmere Port plant. The new Mk6 model, which when put next to its predecessors, will show that it is truly the Astra of today and beyond, but can still trace its heritage back to the very first model from 1979.
Any Astra which has been produced in the last 30 years is invited to join the largest gathering in the UK and possibly Europe. In association with Vauxhall UK, Irmscher UK and Total Vauxhall Magazine, we will bring together as many of the marks and models as possible from the Astra range, from the classic Mk1 of the late 70's to the new Mk5 VXR's.
For the displaying vehicles, there will be a coveted "Best of Mark" trophy, which will be handed out on the day, with runners up prizes for the most impressive cars on display, voted for by a special guest panel.
Along with the various tuning / styling trade stands there will be an auto-jumble of parts. You may find some of those elusive parts you are looking for, or find something new for your car.
There will be a different feel to the display areas compared to a normal car show event. The cars will be set into specific Mark / Models. The show cars will have information cards of which club they are affiliated to, with the owners club being on the end aisle, if people wish to enquire or join that club.
Other Display Area's:
There will also be a "Griffin Show and Shine" display area for any other Vauxhall branded vehicles, which will attend the Homecoming event. There will be a "Top 3" prizes for the winning vehicles judged by our selected panel.
£5 per car to display in both the Astra display and the show and shine display
General admission is free for non-displaying cars although donations to the help for heroes charity would be very welcome!
