Not been on this forum in ages but figured it’s a good place to start for advice. My Astra H 1.9 CDTI is approaching 90,000 miles and recently it’s been smoking heavily when under acceleration, usually when the revs drop low pulling away from a junction. The car was serviced and MOT’d in the last 4 months and has had a new EGR valve at the same time. Any ideas on what may be causing the smoking and any cheapish fixes? If it’s a major job I will likely get rid and replace but thought I’d ask on here before I go down the replacement car route.

Brand new gearbox will set you back couple grand, second hand few hundred quid but more than likely need rebuilding/repair again few hundred quid.
Ps, ya can have your own rebuilt as many times as needed as long as it's not destroyed itself. Tbh thou you shouldn't need to rebuild gbox a second tym aslong as you keep up with regular gearbox oil change.
It sounds like your inlet manifold is absolutely caked up in gunk, it's bad enough that your swirls couldn't open which forces the bar to come off.
Probably at min it needs cleaning then have swirl plugs & egr blanked.
Carbon clean session may help reduce some of the soot & gunk aswell.
Turbo will only need changing if you've got a loud whistle noise even then they last quite awhile before dying

Turbo is fine apparently. So it has been diagnosed as the Fuel Pressure Sensor is malfunctioning. The garage removed the DTUK box which was knackered but the sensor needs replacing. The issue is that no one seems to know the part that is required and VX are not responding to questions. Does anyone know the part number for the Fuel Pressure Sensor on a 59 plate H 1.9 CDTI SRI

Yeah I missed that lol, try searching for z19dth fuel pressure sensor & fair few results come back unfortunately nearly everyone is for used parts (99%) I'm guessing it's something that doesn't fail to often.
If you decide to buy used you've got choice really for around 15-30 buys sensor or 20-40 buys common rail with sensor(s) attached.
