personally I hate them and having driven a vehicle with them fitted as standard found no benefit to having them whatsoever :shrug:

Not uncommon as factory fit these days. Main difference is that factory units only operate when the steering is being turned and are inhibited under 10 miles/hour or so. The ebay units will apparently operate at any speed if the indicators are used. My car came with them fitted from the factory. IMO their operation is rarely noticeable and they are next to pointless.

I use a Genlabs DRL controller, good product. But this sounds a little OTT and of little use.

Yes road legal as long as you use them with E-Marked bulbs or DRL’s.

mmmm, would they be road legal?
I did wonder this when I got my car as it's using foglamps when it's not foggy, but thought the makers probably have got it right. A quick 'Google' indicates they are in fact legal at speeds under 40 kilometres/hr (25 miles/hr) under ECE regulations. The ebay units don't mention this speed related limit (they seem to be indicator operated) so would need some questions asked.
