Hi all.
sorry if this is an ongoing question. I haven't read right through the forums (yeah I know a lazy git 馃槙 )
Anyway, my wife's Convertable soft top has packed up I'm afraid
It is a 2005 Bertone WU55GXY
We took it to our mechanic, who stripped it right off and found that the "Nearside Hydraulic ram" is knackered.
He said the supplier told him they aren't available anymore :(

I have tried a local Scrap dealer, but none there.
it is in very good condition apart from that, so she would love to get it back working again.
Can anyone help or advise us, pretty please?:)

I have luckily found that all I need is the hydraulic ram part number 9198600.
I went to a Vauxhall dealer who gave me this number, but it's discontinued now:oops:
Whatever happened to long-lasting parts supplied after the discontinuation of models?
Hopefully, if anyone looks at this they might be able to suss it out from the attachments?
The first one id the Ram from the top of the roof, and the second is inside the bodywork, with the seat taken out.
So it looks like a long Ram.
sorry if this is the wrong terminology. it's what my mechanic called it (a ram)

If anyone has knowledge of whereabouts I can get one, or maybe a refurb I'd be eternally grateful (or my wife will :))

Unfortunately parts availability for most cars is 13 years for some stuff and it tails off for a lot of parts from there

thanks again.
I actually managed to get a part number from a Vauxhall garage with a diagram of the parts, including the Ram.
See attachment Item number 5.

you can say that again.
Unfortunately, they are obsolete brand new now.
So looking to have it refurbished if possible. Do you or anyone know of anyone somewhere I could take/send it to when I get it out of the car.?
I'm assured The Ram is the only part I need to replace/repair.

Have you seen anywhere that sells them second hand then?

Only on eBay, but the pair had been sold, still the best bet for finding them I think

I haven't taken the Ram to the Hydraulics guys yet.
But just thinking...

If I can't get any joy with getting it fixed, my wife will be left with a Bertone convertible that isn't lol
the mechanic said he can lock the roof down leaving her with a hard/soft top.
Wondering if it could be part exchanged for another used car, or if anyone would buy it like that?
I realise it's a kinda rhetorical question, but wanted your thoughts on it maybe?

Tbh it鈥檚 still quite a cool car, even if the roof doesn鈥檛 work, if the roofs locked closed, at least you can get use of the boot, until you can source the rams

Yeah, that's the thinking.
Yes it is a very nice looking car, so hopefully, when the wife finds a suitable replacement someone might be interested :)
Thanks for all your input Davo

well, sadly for the wife she's decided on another car, not a convertible, she said she'd be too worried after this escapade.
She likes the Mazda 2, so found one that's a 2015 sport nav. she was drawn to it because of the colour lol.
electric blue, TBF it does look nice.
she doesn't do many miles. It does about 46 MPG urban, and the Tax is only 拢30.
we only got 拢400 part exchange, after I haggled with them.
shame Mazda doesn't do sunroofs though.
