Hi Lads
I have had this issue a while now and someone suggested a new post to see if there were any new ideas

Emmissions light is lit on dash. Pedal test and scan tool show number one oxygen sensor. It has had three. First two were aftermarket and last one was a Delphi which autovaux assured me was the genuine part for the engine. Still have the light and error code.

Any ideas lads as to what to do please?

Many thanks.
Nick.

Hi Nick
What is the full code again?

Is the electrical plug connector to the o2 sensor clean and free of oil ?

Could be a red herring, but often a faulty AFM will show up a fault code for the primary lambda sensor. Is yours MAF or MAP sensored?

Hi Redman
To my rescue again.
It is the P0130 on the pedal test. Cant remember the scan tool.
I will check the connector. Do you recommend spray cleaning anyway with contact cleaner?
Thanks.

Hi
Thanks for replying.
Forgive me but what is an AFM?
I am not sure if it is MAP or MAF censored. How do i find out? Sorry i am not more clued up.
Thanks.

If it's the same car as your earlier posts it's a Z16XEP
so it will have an IAT (Inlet air temp ) sensor and and a MAP (manifold absolute pressure ) sensor
rather than a MAF (mass air flow) sensor
there are a few options on the P0130 code do you have the full code ?

P0130 03 O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 1)
P0130 04 O2 Sensor Circuit Range/Performance (Bank 1 Sensor 1)
P0130 07 O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 1)
P0130 0C O2 Sensor Circuit Range/Performance (Bank 1 Sensor 1)
P0130 52 O2 Sensor Circuit Slow Response (Bank 1 Sensor 1)

P0130 55 O2 Sensor - Too Few Rich/Lean And Lean/Rich Switches (Bank 1 Sensor 1)

Hi
Thanks for helping.
Yes it is the Z16XEP.
It has some sort of sensor after the air filter. Is that the IAT censor? If i remember if you unplug it the cooling fan comes on? Where is the MAP please?
I will need to get the proper code from the 'snap on' scan tool rather than the generic 'pedal test' one. Please bare with me on this.
Many thanks.

Some times oil can get into the wiring loom from the oil pressure switch and cause problems. I wouldn't spray anything on it unless it is to degrease and clean any oil contamination, should you have it.

Hi
The sensor plugs in to a connector above the thermostat if that helps.

Yes the IAT is the one in the inlet trunking,
the MAP is in the inlet manifold down the back,it's easier to get at if you remove the engine control module first

Hi Valer.
Ok. Been for MOT today. Codes were read and cleared and it sailed through MOT before warning light came back. Emissions fine and not even an advisory.
There were four Engine codes showing. They were read with a new 'snap on' reader, so a decent scan tool.

P0136 O2 Sensor circuit ( Bank 1 sensor 2 ) open circuit
P0136 02 sensor circuit ( Bank 1 sensor 2 ) voltage high
P1116 Coolant thermostat valve circuit low voltage.
P1614 Immobilizer wrong data recieved.

Now this is mind blowing as all codes read previously have related to bank 1 sensor 1.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Were the codes displaying as present ?
The coolant thermostat may be down to you replacing it and plugging it in after switching on. It would show as not present and would be historical.

I agree with @redman,run it for a while and see which (if any) codes come back

Hi Guys
I never noticed. The scanner just showed four engine codes after being asked to scan for codes. Will they be listed under active and stored or some such wording?

If a code has been cleared, it won’t show up if it’s historic, if it’s in relation to present fault only they will show up

On my code reader I get these by each code.
Present
Not present
Pending

There are different types of codes e.g. a type codes or b type codes and they will set an eml if the fault occurs the required amount of times in a certain number of driving cycles. I think a b type code takes 2 noted faults on the sensor and it will set the eml. So I presume "pending" is when it has detected 1 fault and is waiting for a second fault.
