As the title says:

I'm looking to get a few sets of alloys refurbished and I'm looking for the best place to go in Central Scotland (ish) I'm willing to travel a reasonable distance if it's going to get me a top notch finish.

So far I've found the following places but as always there are mixed reviews:

The Wheel Specialist

Chameleon

Carrick Alloy Restoration

Powdertech

Phoenix Alloys

IPF

Custom Coatings UK

What I'm after, ideally, is personal experiences etc as I'm looking to get 3 sets done and don't want to spend a load of cash and get a poor finish.

The wheels all have light to medium/heavy curb damage and would need repaired and then finished.

What are your views on finishing - paint or powder coat and can you get a combination of both?

I look forward to hearing your views.

Thanks

Heard lots of good things about Carrick and Chamelon but not used them yet.

I think muzza has used Carrick, and wee mac used Chamelon so best to ask either of them mate

I've used IPF and the finish was great, colour choice needs to be a common colour though because they're a small family business and don't like to spend a lot on rare colours that they'll never use again.

I would recommend powdercoat over paint though, it's far more durable. But the process of powder coating means you can only have one colour done, which will completely encompass the whole wheel, anything extra, like rim stripes, needs to be added by paint later.

If u wanna ask about it you know where to find me ;-)

Defo powder coat, my Radius R12s are painted and the rubbish weather has resulted in a lot of peeling which looks like they have been curbed :(

How much roughly would it be to get a set of Pentas done? Car is black, but can't make my mind up whether to keep them standard or go for black or anthracite??

Don't go for black mate as I don't think it goes well with a black car, but anthracite could look lovely!

And it's usually between £35-45 per wheel (Y)

Thanks mate, just what I was looking for.

Now you come to mention it, I am toying with rim stripes for one set of them. Glad you brought this up!

Ha ha, I've known him for ages and have been to speak to him already. Only reason I'm not going there is he said he wouldn't repair them he'd just powdercoat or paint them for me which isn't what I'm after.
