** APOLOGIES ITS A 1.4T PETROL**

Good afternoon guys,

This is a post for a friend at work, he went away over the weekend and the car broke down twice. It was a large bang he says it felt like it was under where the gear selector is. The car put the management light on (amber) and went into limp mode. AA came out, cleared the error and it happened again with a few minutes. This time the AA came out and clear it and followed him home.

He's had it diagnosed today and they said they cant see anything wrong at all. He's super nervous about driving it which sucks.

Has anyone had any run ins like this before?

Many thanks,

Tom

Did he take it to a Vx dealer ?

Looks as though it needs the transmission module reading for codes and data as well as the ECM,
the DTC P0700 code meaning is "Transmission Control Module Requested MIL Illumination",
so the code is not the issue ,it's just pointing out there is one.
Difficult to know what to say,it could be a glitch or something more serious.

Circuit/System Description
The Transmission Control Module (TCM) constantly monitors the transmission system for any condition which may adversely affect vehicle emissions.
If a condition is detected, the TCM sets a DTC and sends a serial data message to the ECM.
The ECM sets DTC P0700 to inform the technician that the TCM has set the emission related DTC.
The serial data message sent by the TCM also contains a request for the ECM to illuminate the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)
The technician can observe the DTC that was set by the TCM by reviewing the ECM Freeze Frame records on the scan tool. The ECM Freeze Frame records also contain the engine operating conditions present when the transmission DTC set.

Conditions for Setting the DTC
The ECM receives a serial data message from the TCM indicating that an emission
related DTC has set in the TCM.

Diagnostic Aids
Communication codes, U-codes, as well as powertrain codes, P-codes set in the TCM can cause the TCM to request DTC P0700 to be set in the ECM.

Thank you for answering. He's getting it to a VX dealer asap. I'll pass this on to him!

Again thanks.
