Someone told me the 1.9 150 engine was limited to 4000 RPM in 5th and 6th (around 130mph). Is this true?

Mine definitely goes past that. :S

its a hard limit on all astra's, 4k rev's in top gear iirc, also knowns as Vmax, speedo speed will read 140 ish, actual speed is nearer 130, the vmax can be removed through a remap tho.

I thought the limit would be to the actual speed rather than engine revs - just a co-incidence that on the 1.9 it is at 4000rpm.

If you limited a 1.4 Astra to 4000rpm in top, then it would only do about 70mph.

Also, I didn't think that the VXR's were limited at all...

Astra 1.9 is limited to 4000rpm = about 128mph in 6th only. 5th has no limit. Because of the speedo you will see more than130mph as they are always "optimistic".
VXR has no limit.

Its naturally limited.

A vxr will only do a tad over 150mph and its got 60% more bhp, and the vxr has no limit.

Old news this one.

Yes, it's limited to 4000 RPM in 6th gear. This is 130mph. It will say 140 on the speedo +/- a bit due to speedos having to read slightly out, EU law.

VXR has 240bhp, 40 more than the said 1.9 (20% more power) but less torque.

At these speeds it's all about aerodynamics and friction than power. A Ferrari 458 has 570bhp nearly 3 times the power of the mapped/boxed 1.9 and nearly 2.5 times the power of a VXR but can 'only' do 202mph, 30% more!
