Hey I have a 1.8 Vvt only getting like 28 mpg an that's just drivin normal anyone have any ideas as to why this is so low ?

the 1.8 isnt very good on fuel. try changing up a little earlier and using 5th more. but as i said the mpg isnt good lol

28 is poor too.
I had an old cavalier 2.0 ecotec and that got 35mpg.

im getting 29.7 average with a bit of normal driving and some foot down now and again

My last tankful averaged 38 mpg but some of this was on a run, around town I seem to average 32ish.

I get about 33-34 in mine but as others have said its a thirsty engine. Better off with the 2.0t same consumption but more power

i used to get 34 out of mine, but it wasnt the vvt, so yours should be doing better, but most of it comes down to driving style, so motorway cruising would get better consumption than driving round town

Get between 31 and 33 out of mine around town with the odd slip of the right foot.

over 67,000 miles my average is 40.4mpg
I drive mostly A and B roads very fast

tyre pressure is 34 front 32 rear, clean air filter, use redex every 10,000 miles

It wasn't a astra but my Vec-c, i used to get anything from 28- 47 mpg out of mine. It just depends what driving your doing. iirc the mpg figures state 28 is the usual for town driving.
So many parts can play into the factor, such as tyres, oil, filters, plugs & tracking. As for fuel treatment, DONT use redex, this will kill you cat.

I get 28-30 in my vxr :0 thought the 1.8 would be better than that mate
