Where is my Jet noise ?

Hello !

Watch this video and listen to the engine jet noise on this VXR.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfNXHh25G4E

Where that jet noise come from ? My Astra VXR/OPC does not make that sound even being the same car (Z20LEH) !! I like it !!

Do you guys know what I must check to make my car sounding like the one in the video ?

Thanks !!!

Sounds like its the an induction noise... he must have some sort of induction kit on there... could be any though and they do all sound different.... Im sure the VXR boys will be along soon to help out......

The VXR in the video is a stock, factory standard.

You VXR must have something wrong - even the DERVs get something similar (although with a tractor overtone).

I don't know if it's some of the later ones that have seemed to lose the jet noise - Apparently the exhaust is slightly different and it has reduced the level of it

I find mine pretty quiet (haven't looked at the vid - get funny looks for being on youtube in work). Find the exhaust very muted except at high RPM, but even then you can talk over it, although apparently sounds good on the outside.

Do think the earlier VXRs sound louder than my 08 plate.

The exhaust systems are different, the 2005 and early 2006 cars have a totally different back box compared to later 2006 onwards. Then they changed them again in 2009. Not sure on the noise though. But I do know my car is louder than alot of newer VXr's with standard exhausts too. I have a 2005 on a 55.

IIRC Gary - Your back box was totally different to mines, I have a 55 plate and he had a 56 plate. (before you got your remus, and we were both standard systems)

But mines still makes that lovely Jet noise ........ but no "pop, pop, bang, bang" yet!!

Thanks

James
