I think all the 1.8 SRIs have VVT. Wont be any badge though.

Some of the early ones (up to about 06ish) were the old 130PS Z18XE, then they brought in the 140PS Z18XER VVT engine. There will be a sticker on the timing belt cover, or compare yours with this pic, this is the VVT engine. The distinguishing feature is the silver thing with the electric plug on it on the left front by the timing belt cover, that is the cam dephaser solenoid (you can just about see the otehr one at the back too).

the 1.8 engines were at 120BHP, and these were available on SRI models until Sep06... from that point, the engine had the vvt and BHP up to 140.

to make sure yours is the vvt, simply check the engine serial number, which u can find it on the left hand side of the engine when u open the bonnet.... the vvt will start with Z18XER as mentioned above...

edited: I reckon the Z18XER will be found as well on the badge on the driver side... if i remember correctly mine says opel, then at the bottom the XER thing... someone correct me if i am wrong

In addition to that the order form should have VVT on it under the car details - mine did anyway..
