As some of you may be aware the wife drives a 53 plate Astra coupe 1.8 Edition 100, and I'd always been a Vectra man (even though I have owned a 51 plate 3dr 1.8 SRi in Black). I've owned three Vectra's in total -:

1. An S reg Arctic saloon
2. An R reg SRi 140 Hatchback
3. An 04 plate CDTi 150 SRi

Well, today I was up at Pentagon Vauxhall in Oldham looking for a new car and narrowed it down to two cars -

1. Black Vectra SRi 1.8 VVTi hatch
2. Black Astra Design 1.6 16v Hatch

You've obviously guessed from the title of this thread that I chose the Astra and should have it on Tuesday or Wednesday.

So it's official, I'm an Astra convert . This Astra H is truely a fantastic car and was a great drive. It's not going to light the road up but it was quick enough for what I need it for. So, it looks like you'll be seeing a lot more of me on here ;).

I'll post pics when I've took delivery and cleaned it 'my way.'

The usual really, leccy windows all round, leccy mirrors, sight and light, half leather trim. No trip computer though

55 plate with only 16k miles. Price is a snip at £7k.

It'a going to have some Irmscher treatment externally that's for sure, and the wife likes the 18" Penta's.

nice one mate, is it a 5dr?

Sorry yes it's a 5dr.

So Alex, has the life of Vectra well and truly been buried?

So Alex, has the life of Vectra well and truly been buried?

a. Well, you know my feelings about the CDTi's, so that's a non-starter.
b. The 3.2 or the 2.8 will be too juicy for me as I've just started a new company and need to throw money at it.
c. The 2.2 just doesn't do it for me
d. The Dti's are too agricultural for my liking

So that leaves me with the 1.8 VVTi or the 2.0 turbo, and they'd have to be a damned good spec to tempt me.

The wife is due a change of car in about 12 months and no doubt they'll be some good facelift Vec C's in the dealerships going cheap, but she loves the Astra Sporthatch so you may not see me in another Vectra at all. I'm planning on keeping this Astra H Design for a good two years as well.

sorry if this post has offended anyone; that's not intention. It's only my opinion ;)
