: Door Bump Strips Removal, is it Easy?

09-07-2013, 15:59
Just wondering on how easy is it to remove the Bump Strips on doors, i know there just stuck on but is there a technique to removing them to not risk removing the lacquer or is the glue not that strong??

its the same as removing the boot badges mate, an old credit / debit card pushed behind them and slowly slowly work them off

Then some tar and bug remover to clean up after

Some heat / hot water would probably help soften the glue before you start

I used a bit of fishing tackle to cut through the stick pads at the end to make some space. Then pull the away from the car by hand, do it gently.

The removig is easy, the cleaning up after is a pain...

Also just remember they bend easy, so if you plan on using them again, be careful otherwise you might need to buy a new set and they're not cheap.

thanks for the replies fellas, so the chances of damaging the paintwork are quite slim? :sus:

We cant really answer that one as we dont know what condition your paint work is in,
If it has ever been resprayed in its life and if the bump strips have been removed in the past
